British Independent Film Company

Working title Film is a British Film production company based in London. It was established in 1983 by co-founders Sarah Radclyffe and Tim Bevan and was initially founded by film councils, government grants and tax schemes. Working Title Film is responsible for many of the award winning and box office successes over the past 20 years. these include films such as, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually, Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy, Les Miserable and The Bridget Jones franchise. Working Title focus on making films with a budget of around £35 million and have also produced several television productions, most notably featuring Rowan Atkinson. With a British and Worldwide fan base, Working Title Films has become one of the most influential and successful production companies in the film industry.

The logo of working title is fairly simple with it including the Working Title typography in all upper case text in front of a round outline of a circle, slowly fading away slightly on its left hand side. The colour of this logo is majority a darker blue with white and a lighter shade of blue also being featured. this has no exact connotions to the film industry however has a tone of enjoyment and relaxation which could occur whilst you are watching their produced films. as well as this the circular shape in the background of the logo could have connections to a film reel  and that as it is faded slightly show that more films are constantly in the making as the circle is never fully a bold, dark blue. This also links to the 'Working' in the companies name.  The companies previous logos have all featured the same layout and features, with small changes in the colours and the font size and type.

I have decided to chose this company and the film The Theory Of Everything as my case study for a British independent film company as they are both very successful and well known. Working Titles films has a lot of information concerning it and its industry available making it a very good asset to my media work. Also I find the fact that it has gone from a small British  company to a competitor to other influential companies interesting. Moreover the Theory Of Everything is an effective choice as it is a recent film which is considerably popular/ successful in the box office grossing as well as its award wins and nominations with it grossing $70.7 million worldwide and winning Best actor at the academy awards and best adapted screen play and best British film as the BAFTAS.
